I met John Brennan 2 years ago when he won the Jr.Florida Duck Stamp Contest. He was a serious and very talented artist and only 17 years old. I invited John to paint with me in my Dunedin, Fl studio. John Drives from Tampa at least one day a week To paint with me and is rapidly becoming one of the top young wildlife artist. This year he won the Florida Wildlife Magazine Art Competition .
Look for his Pileated woodpecker painting on the July /August Magazine cover. And a full feature story in September/October Issue. Not bad for
a 19 year old kid.

John and I will be competing against each other in the Federal Duck Stamp Contest this year. He has a good enough chance to Win.

On a recent trip to the Suwannee River I took this photo from the top of the river bank. The water level was so low I felt like I was standing on a mountain looking down. Lucky for me my East Cape Canoe Gladesmen can still get me almost anywhere. Jumping Sturgeon are a real danger on this river , I am waiting for helmet laws next !

My good friend Joy Culverhouse and I visit in the studio. Joy has the largest collection of my original paintings. She is an incredible lady and has a great eye for fine wildlife art. We met at an art show over 15 years ago. She has been a great influence in my life, and has always had words of wisdom when I needed good advice. I don't think anyone has had a bigger impact on my success as an artist than Joy.

This Red Headed Woodpecker was building a nest in the back yard of my friend April Frederick. April is an Environmental Educator at The Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Educational Center in Tarpon
Springs. When she called to tell me about the photo opportunity I was excited because I have been wanting to paint a Red Headed Woodpecker for a long time. What a beautiful looking bird.

This is my art agent Alison West Brown. Alison represents a small group of very talented artists. She has helped steer my path as an artist and has been a great friend for many years. Her mother bought a painting from me in 1977 and was the first to discover my talent over 30 years ago after my graduation from Clearwater High School in 1976. Alison has done a spectacular job presenting my work to many new art collectors.
